Stanley Recalls 2.6 Million Switchback and Trigger Action Mugs, Offers Free Replacement Lids
Dec 12, 2024, 04:58 PM
Stanley, a popular drinkware brand, has issued a recall for approximately 2.6 million Switchback and Trigger Action stainless steel travel mugs due to a potential burn hazard. The recall was prompted by 91 reports worldwide, including 16 in the U.S., of the lids detaching during use, resulting in 38 burn injuries, with 11 requiring medical attention. The affected mugs were sold in various colors and sizes, including 12, 16, and 20 ounces, at retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Target from June 2016 through December 2024. The issue stems from the lid threads shrinking when exposed to heat and torque, causing the lid to detach. Consumers are advised to immediately stop using these mugs and contact Stanley for a free replacement lid.
