Jack Smith's Filing Reveals Trump Dismissed Pence's Danger on Jan. 6: 'So What?'
Oct 2, 2024, 08:59 PM
In a newly unsealed 165-page court filing from Special Counsel Jack Smith, it was revealed that former President Donald Trump responded with "So what?" when informed that Vice President Mike Pence was in danger and had been taken to a secure location during the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots. Following a Twitter post by Trump that focused the mob's attention on Pence, a top aide, referred to as "Person 15" in the filing, rushed to the White House dining room to alert Trump of the situation, hoping he would take action to ensure Pence's safety. Instead, Trump reportedly looked at the aide and said only, "So what?" The filing, based on grand jury testimony, sheds new light on Trump's actions during the riots.
