UAE Allocates 2 Billion AED for Flood Repairs, Lessons Learned

Following record rainfall in the UAE, which led to significant flooding, the government has allocated 2 billion AED ($544 million) for repairs. The heaviest rains in 75 years caused substantial damage, particularly in the Sharjah suburb and Mirdif area, where residents like Adriana Pagliero described the experience as a 'living nightmare.' Efforts to rebuild are ongoing, with many still struggling to recover. Additionally, there have been reports of illnesses linked to contaminated water due to the floods. The UAE cabinet, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, approved the funds to address the damages to homes and noted that lessons were learned from the disaster.
