Shimano Fixes Gear Hack Vulnerabilities for Tour de France

Researchers have discovered a method to hack into wireless gear-shifting systems used by top cycling teams, such as those participating in the Tour de France. The study identified three vulnerabilities in the Dura-Ace Di2 system, which could potentially be exploited to gain an unfair advantage in races. However, Shimano, the manufacturer, has collaborated with researchers to address these issues by releasing a firmware update that enhances security. The update is already in use by professional cycling teams, aiming to eliminate any concerns about electronic gear hacking. A £175 jamming device was mentioned in relation to the security concerns.
