IRS to Distribute $2.4 Billion in Payments to 1 Million Taxpayers, Up to $1,400 Each by Late January 2025
Dec 22, 2024, 07:30 PM
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has announced that it will distribute approximately $2.4 billion in special payments to about 1 million taxpayers who missed out on pandemic-era stimulus checks. Each eligible taxpayer will receive up to $1,400. The payments are set to be automatically sent out in the coming weeks, with direct deposits or paper checks expected to arrive by late January 2025. The IRS will also send letters to eligible taxpayers to notify them of the payments. This initiative aims to provide financial relief to those who did not claim their COVID-related tax benefits in 2021.
