UK Government Launches NHS Workplace Health Checks for Over-40s, 130,000 Eligible
Aug 30, 2024, 05:17 AM
The UK government is initiating a new health program where the NHS will conduct health checks in workplaces across England. This initiative, termed 'health MOT', aims to prevent heart attacks and strokes by measuring workers' weight and blood pressure. The program will focus on individuals over 40 and target male-dominated industries to identify early warning signs of cardiovascular problems. More than 130,000 people in England will be eligible for these workplace health checks, which are expected to save lives and enhance workforce productivity. The program has been supported by organizations such as Business4Health, which advocates for employer investment in health checks.
