Dec 31, 2024, 05:53 PM
Aaron Brown, a veteran television news anchor renowned for his coverage of the September 11, 2001 attacks, has died at the age of 76. Brown began his television career in Seattle, working at stations including KING 5 and KIRO 7. He later joined ABC News and then CNN, where he hosted 'NewsNight' from 2001 to 2005. His first day on air at CNN coincided with the 9/11 attacks, during which he delivered 17 consecutive hours of live reporting from the network's Manhattan rooftop. Brown was known for his calm and steady reporting style, including his signature segment 'the whip' around the world with correspondents. After leaving CNN, he taught at Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, influencing a new generation of journalists. His death was confirmed by his wife, Charlotte Raynor.
