AI Beats Human in First US Air Force AI vs. Human Dogfight

The US Air Force, in collaboration with DARPA, has successfully completed the first-ever dogfight between an AI-controlled fighter jet and a human-piloted aircraft in 2023. The historic test involved an AI-piloted X-62A VISTA jet engaging in aerial combat against a human-piloted F-16. This milestone in military aviation was part of the Air Combat Evolution program, aiming to integrate AI into real-world air combat scenarios. The test, which took place at Edwards Air Force Base in California, demonstrated the capabilities of AI in handling complex combat maneuvers against human opponents, with the AI consistently beating the human pilot.
