Panthers' Chuba Hubbard Out for Season with Calf Strain, Boone and Blackshear to Step Up
Dec 28, 2024, 03:41 PM
The Carolina Panthers have placed Canadian running back Chuba Hubbard on injured reserve due to a Grade 2 calf strain, ending his season. Hubbard, who had been listed as questionable for the upcoming game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, underwent an MRI on Friday that revealed the injury. This season, Hubbard rushed for a career-high 1,195 yards and 10 touchdowns, ranking sixth in the NFL in rushing yards. He also recorded 43 catches for 171 receiving yards and one touchdown catch. His absence will see Mike Boone and Raheem Blackshear taking over the running back duties for the Panthers' final two games. Hubbard's performance this year included a standout game last week where he ran for 152 yards and two touchdowns, earning him the NFC Offensive Player of the Week award. The Panthers, with a 4-11 record, will face the 8-7 Buccaneers in their next game.
