MicroStrategy Buys 21,550 Bitcoins for $2.1B, Now Holds 2% of All Bitcoins Worth $42.8B

MicroStrategy, led by CEO Michael Saylor, has acquired an additional 21,550 bitcoins between December 2 and December 8, 2024, for approximately $2.1 billion at an average price of $98,783 per bitcoin. This purchase increases the company's total bitcoin holdings to 423,650 BTC, acquired for a total of approximately $25.6 billion at an average price of $60,324 per bitcoin. The current value of its bitcoin holdings stands at around $42.8 billion, representing a profit of $17.3 billion. MicroStrategy now holds about 2% of all bitcoins that will ever exist, solidifying its position as the largest corporate holder of the cryptocurrency. The company has achieved a BTC yield of 43.2% quarter-to-date and 68.7% year-to-date. MicroStrategy's aggressive accumulation strategy, financed through a combination of equity and fixed-income securities sales, has drawn increased scrutiny.
