CWA Accuses Lionbridge of Retaliatory Layoffs of 160 Microsoft-contracted QA Workers
Jun 11, 2024, 02:48 PM
The Communications Workers of America (CWA) has accused Lionbridge Technologies, a quality assurance (QA) supplier for Activision, of retaliatory layoffs. The company allegedly dismissed 160 workers after they organized to seek better working conditions. These subcontracted QA testers, employed through Microsoft, were reportedly laid off for attempting to unionize. Microsoft, which has a standing labor neutrality agreement with the CWA, has been working with Lionbridge on Activision projects. The CWA has filed Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) charges against Lionbridge Technologies, claiming the layoffs violated the workers' rights. The layoffs affected the entire team of Microsoft-contracted testers.
