The Wolverines' defense was pivotal, sacking Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe five times and forcing three turnovers. Michigan capitalized early, taking a 16-0 lead in the first quarter, largely due to Milroe's turnovers. Freshman running back Jordan Marshall was named MVP, rushing 23 times for 100 yards. Despite losing starting quarterback Davis Warren to injury, Michigan managed to hold on for the win, with Alex Orji stepping in at quarterback.
