U.S. Military Deploys 1,000 More Troops to Southern Border for Logistical Support Following Trump's Order

The U.S. military is deploying approximately 1,000 additional active duty troops to the southern border with Mexico, following an executive order from President Donald Trump mandating an increased military presence there. This deployment comes just two days after Trump's directive and is part of a broader effort to enhance security along the border. The troops will join the roughly 2,200 active duty forces already at the border as part of Joint Task Force-North, based out of El Paso, Texas. Their roles will include logistical and bureaucratic support, such as data entry, detection and monitoring, and vehicle maintenance, to assist U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Additionally, the troops will help maintain operational readiness for Border Patrol, assist in command-and-control centers, and provide intelligence specialists to assess threats and migrant flows. The deployment is expected to lay the groundwork for a larger military footprint in the coming weeks and months.
