Syria's Ahmed al-Sharaa Ready to Welcome UN Forces in Buffer Zone, Cites Israeli Pretext of Iranian Militias Post-Damascus Liberation

Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sharaa, also known as Ahmad al-Jolani or Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, has stated that his country is prepared to welcome United Nations forces into the buffer zone established with Israel. Al-Sharaa accused Israel of advancing into the buffer zone under the pretext of the presence of Iranian militias in Syria, a justification he claims is no longer valid following the liberation of Damascus. He emphasized Syria's commitment to the 1974 agreement and readiness to restore the situation to its pre-advancement state. Additionally, al-Sharaa highlighted Qatar's significant role in countering Israeli advancement in the region, indicating that Qatar will play an active role in the coming days. During a joint press conference with Qatari Prime Minister al-Thani in Damascus, al-Sharaa warned that Israel's actions threaten regional stability.
