Kyivstar to Launch Starlink's Direct-to-Cell Service in Ukraine by Q4 2025
Dec 30, 2024, 12:20 PM
Kyivstar PJSC, Ukraine's largest mobile operator, has entered into an agreement with Starlink, a division of SpaceX, to introduce satellite-powered cellular service in Ukraine. This partnership aims to enhance telecom resilience in the war-torn country by offering connectivity beyond the reach of Russian attacks. The service is expected to roll out with text messaging capabilities in the fourth quarter of 2025, with plans to later include voice and data services. This initiative will make Ukraine one of the first countries to implement Starlink's Direct-to-Cell technology, allowing subscribers to maintain communication even if ground networks fail.
