Prince Harry has settled his privacy invasion lawsuit against Rupert Murdoch's News Group Newspapers (NGN), which owns the British tabloids The Sun and the now-defunct News of The World. The settlement includes a 'full and unequivocal apology' from NGN for the serious intrusion into Harry's private life between 1996 and 2011, as well as for the unlawful activities carried out by private investigators working for The Sun. NGN also apologized for the phone hacking, surveillance, and misuse of private information by journalists and private investigators at the News of The World, and for the impact on Harry's private life and that of his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales. The settlement agreement includes a payment of substantial damages to Prince Harry, who is also known as the Duke of Sussex. This settlement marks the first time NGN has admitted wrongdoing at The Sun, representing a historic admission in the long-standing legal battle that began in 2019. The case was set to go to trial, but last-minute settlement discussions led to the resolution before the trial could begin.
