India Approves Rs 3,985 Crore for Third Launch Pad at Sriharikota to Boost Space Missions

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the establishment of a third launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The project, costing Rs 3,985 crore, is set to enhance India's space exploration capabilities by supporting Next Generation Launch Vehicles (NGLV), future human spaceflight missions, and augmenting the capacity of the LVM-3 rocket. The new launch pad will also serve as a backup for the second launch pad and is expected to be completed within four years. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to invest in India's space sector, with the government also approving other significant projects such as the Chandrayaan-4 mission and the Mission to Venus.
