Special Forces Sgt. Livelsberger Shot Himself Before Cybertruck Explosion at Trump Hotel
Jan 2, 2025, 07:38 PM
Las Vegas authorities have announced that the driver of a rented Tesla Cybertruck that exploded outside the Trump International Hotel had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head prior to the detonation of the vehicle. Sheriff Kevin McMahill identified the driver as 37-year-old Special Forces Master Sgt. Matthew Alan Livelsberger. The vehicle, packed with gas canisters and fireworks explosives, detonated on New Year's Day in front of the hotel. A handgun was found at Livelsberger's feet inside the car, which was burnt beyond recognition. The driver's military ID and passport were recovered from the vehicle. Officials believe Livelsberger shot himself before the explosion. The body was sent to the coroner for positive identification due to severe burns. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the motive behind the incident.
