Mexican officials have stated that the effort aims to ensure that their citizens are not alone in facing legal challenges. According to reports, there are approximately 4.5 million undocumented Mexican nationals in the U.S., contributing significantly to remittances sent back to Mexico, which totaled over $60 billion. The lawyers sent may outnumber judges in U.S. immigration courts. The initiative was announced under the administration of President Claudia Sheinbaum.
