Meta's Edits App to Launch on March 15 with AI Animation and 10-Minute Videos
Jan 19, 2025, 08:57 PM
Meta Platforms Inc. has announced the launch of a new video editing app called Edits, targeting creators who edit videos on their mobile devices. The announcement comes in the wake of a brief ban on TikTok and its sister app CapCut, both owned by ByteDance, which were removed from U.S. app stores due to a federal ban. Edits, described by Instagram head Adam Mosseri as a full suite of creative tools, will feature a dedicated tab for inspiration, another for tracking ideas, a high-quality camera, and the ability to share drafts with friends and other creators. The app will also provide insights into how videos perform on Instagram after being shared. Edits will support videos up to 10 minutes in length and include AI animation features. The app is set to launch on March 15 on iOS, with an Android version to follow, and is currently available for pre-order on the Apple App Store.
