The U.S. Senate has advanced the nomination of South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem to be the next Secretary of Homeland Security, clearing a key procedural hurdle with a 61-39 vote to end a filibuster. This sets the stage for a final confirmation vote scheduled for 11:30 a.m. ET on Saturday. Noem's nomination received bipartisan support, with eight Democrats joining all 53 Republicans in the vote. If confirmed, she will be the fourth of President Donald Trump's cabinet picks to be confirmed, following Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.
