UK, France, Germany Accuse Iran of 32 Times Above Limits Uranium Enrichment at 60% Purity Ahead of UN Meeting
Dec 17, 2024, 10:51 PM
Britain, France, and Germany have issued a joint statement accusing Iran of significantly increasing its stockpile of highly enriched uranium to unprecedented levels, lacking any credible civilian justification. This statement was released ahead of a United Nations Security Council meeting focused on Iran's nuclear program. The three European nations urged Iran to reverse its nuclear escalation. Notably, a French representative at the UN highlighted that Iran's enriched uranium levels are now 32 times above the limits set by the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). The International Atomic Energy Agency has also reported that Iran is accelerating uranium enrichment to 60% purity, nearing the weapons-grade threshold of approximately 90%.
