Fabio Ochoa Vásquez, a former leader of the Medellín Cartel, has returned to Colombia after serving 25 years in U.S. prisons for drug trafficking. Ochoa was deported following the completion of his sentence, which began after his extradition in 2001. He arrived at El Dorado Airport in Bogotá at approximately 3:00 p.m. local time. In his first statements, Ochoa expressed no remorse for his past actions and stated his intention to live with his family in Medellín. Upon his return, he faced no outstanding legal issues in Colombia. Ochoa was a significant figure in the drug trade during the 1980s and 1990s and was an associate of notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar.
