Everton Sack Sean Dyche; Baines and Coleman Take Charge for Peterborough FA Cup Tie
Jan 9, 2025, 04:36 PM
Everton Football Club has sacked manager Sean Dyche with immediate effect following a dismal run that leaves the team just one point above the Premier League's relegation zone. The club announced Dyche's departure on Thursday, hours before their FA Cup match against Peterborough United at 19:45. The sacking comes after Everton managed only one win in their last 11 games. Dyche, 58, had recently acknowledged that the new owners 'should be' reviewing his position and that he 'accepts he needs to win more games' to keep his job. Former Everton defender and Under-18s coach Leighton Baines and captain Seamus Coleman will take temporary charge of the team. The Friedkin Group, which completed its takeover less than a month ago, is now searching for a new manager.
