Chicago Bulls to Retire Derrick Rose's No. 1 Jersey in 2025-26, Honoring Youngest MVP
Jan 5, 2025, 01:21 AM
The Chicago Bulls have announced that they will retire Derrick Rose's No. 1 jersey during the 2025-26 NBA season, making him the fifth player in franchise history to receive this honor. The decision was revealed to Rose on Saturday, ahead of 'Derrick Rose Night' during the Bulls' game against the New York Knicks. Rose, a Chicago native who became the youngest MVP in NBA history at age 22 in 2011, played eight seasons with the Bulls. The ceremony celebrating Rose included a halftime tribute where former teammate Joakim Noah led the crowd in 'MVP' chants, and Rose expressed gratitude to the city of Chicago for pushing him to greatness. The Bulls also unveiled the Derrick Rose Atrium Experience, showcasing memorabilia from his career. The only exception to the jersey retirement would be if Rose's son, PJ, plays for the Bulls in the future.
