Canada Bans 324 Firearms Immediately, Proposes Donation to Ukraine's Fight for Democracy
Dec 6, 2024, 12:51 AM
The Canadian government has announced an immediate ban on 324 additional types of firearms, expanding its list of prohibited weapons. Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc stated that these firearms, deemed unsuitable for hunters or sport shooters, are more appropriate for the battlefield. In a surprising twist, the government has proposed to donate these confiscated firearms to Ukraine to aid in their conflict with Russia. This move follows a previous ban in May 2020 of 1,500 makes and models of firearms, which grew to over 2,000 by November 2024. Defence Minister Bill Blair mentioned that the Department of National Defence will work with Canadian companies to facilitate the transfer of these weapons to Ukraine, supporting their fight for democracy.
