Trump Conditions Los Angeles Wildfire Aid on Voter ID Laws and Water Reforms
Jan 24, 2025, 04:51 PM
President Donald Trump has suggested that federal disaster aid to California, following devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, could be contingent upon the state implementing voter ID laws and reforming water policies to release water throughout the state. Speaking about potential aid, Trump stated, 'I want to see two things in Los Angeles: voter ID, so that people have a chance to vote, and I want to see the water be released and come down into Los Angeles and throughout the state. After that, I will be the greatest President that California has ever seen.' He emphasized that 'Voter ID for the people of California, and they all want it,' arguing that current voting is 'very corrupt' and 'you don't know who's voting.' Trump also called for changes in water policy to address shortages affecting farmers and firefighting efforts, including shipping water from the north.
