BYD to Begin Electric Car Production in Camaçari, Brazil, in 2025
Dec 2, 2024, 10:05 PM
BYD, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, has announced plans to begin assembling its first electric cars in Brazil starting in March 2025. The announcement was made during a meeting between Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Stella Li, BYD's CEO for the Americas, who had recently visited the company's factory construction site in Camaçari, Bahia. The project is expected to generate 10,000 direct jobs in 2024 and increase to 20,000 by 2026. The initiative aligns with Brazil's push for sustainable mobility. However, the working conditions at the factory construction site in Camaçari, Bahia, are under investigation by the Bahia branch of the Public Ministry of Labor (MPT).
