Trump Names Ken Kies as Assistant Secretary in Treasury Team Led by Scott Bessent

President-elect Donald Trump has announced the senior leadership team for the U.S. Department of the Treasury, who will work alongside his nominee for Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent. The team includes Ken Kies as assistant secretary for tax policy, Alexandra Preate as senior counselor to the secretary, Hunter McMaster as director of policy planning, and Daniel Katz as chief of staff. Kies, a seasoned tax lawyer with 47 years of experience, has previously served as chief of staff for the Joint Committee on Taxation and chief Republican tax counsel for the House Ways and Means Committee. Preate is noted for her accomplishments in public relations, while McMaster will focus on policy planning. Katz, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a Yale graduate, previously served as a senior adviser at the Treasury Department during Trump's first term. Additionally, Samantha Schwab will serve as deputy chief of staff, and Cora Alvi will be appointed as deputy chief of staff.
