Father Jailed for 40 Years, Stepmother for 33, in Sara Sharif Murder
Dec 17, 2024, 01:09 PM
Urfan Sharif and Beinash Batool have been sentenced to life imprisonment at the Old Bailey for the murder of 10-year-old Sara Sharif in the UK. Sharif, Sara's father, will serve a minimum of 40 years, while Batool, her stepmother, will serve at least 33 years. Sara's uncle, Faisal Malik, was sentenced to 16 years for causing or allowing the death of a child. Over a two-year period, Sara suffered a prolonged campaign of abuse and torture, including more than 25 broken bones, burns, scalds, and human bites. The judge described the abuse as 'torture' and 'despicable abuse,' stating that 'Sara's death was the culmination of years of neglect.' In a victim impact statement, Sara's mother, Olga Sharif, called the perpetrators 'sadists' and 'executioners.'
