Trump Named Time's 2024 Person of the Year for Second Time, Rings NYSE Bell
Dec 13, 2024, 12:38 AM
President-elect Donald Trump has been named Time Magazine's 2024 Person of the Year, marking the second time he has received the honor. Time Magazine cited his 'unparalleled political comeback in American history' and his deep impact on American politics and the country's role in the world. To commemorate the occasion, Trump rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange, becoming the first President-elect to do so since Ronald Reagan in 1985. Trump's selection comes after his election victory, beating other shortlisted candidates including Vice President Kamala Harris, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, and billionaire Elon Musk. During his visit to the NYSE, Trump expressed optimism for business and declared his intention to create 'an economy like nobody has ever seen'.
