West Virginia Fires Coach Neal Brown After 6-6 Season, 52-15 Loss to Texas Tech

West Virginia University has fired head football coach Neal Brown after six seasons with the team. Brown compiled a 37-35 overall record since his arrival in 2019, with a 25-28 mark in Big 12 conference play. The Mountaineers finished the 2024 season with a 6-6 record following a 52-15 loss to Texas Tech in their regular-season finale. Brown's buyout is estimated to be around $9.7 to $10 million. A team meeting was scheduled for 4 p.m. to inform players of the change. Athletic director Wren Baker released a statement regarding the dismissal and announced that a national search for a new head coach is underway.
