Hannah Kobayashi, Missing Hawaii Woman, Found Safe in Mexico After Father's Suicide
Dec 12, 2024, 01:52 PM
Hannah Kobayashi, a 30-year-old woman from Maui, Hawaii, who disappeared last month in Los Angeles, has been found safe in Mexico, her family announced. Kobayashi missed her connecting flight at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on November 8, and after a series of alarming text messages, her family reported her missing on November 11. She was last seen at LAX, where she retrieved her luggage before heading to Union Station and purchasing a bus ticket to the U.S.-Mexico border. Surveillance footage later confirmed she crossed into Mexico at the San Ysidro border crossing on her own accord. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) classified her as a voluntary missing person. During the search for Kobayashi, her father, Ryan Kobayashi, who had traveled from Hawaii to assist, was found dead near LAX from an apparent suicide. The family expressed their gratitude for the support received during this ordeal and requested privacy to heal.
