French culinary icon Maïté, known as "the favorite cook of the French", has died at the age of 86. Maïté, whose real name was Marie-Thérèse Ordonez, passed away during the night from Friday December 20 to Saturday December 21. As a pioneer of television cooking shows, she became a beloved figure through her program 'La Cuisine des Mousquetaires' on France 3, promoting traditional cuisine from the southwestern region of France.
