Meta to Invest Up to $65 Billion in 2025 Capex, Building Massive 2GW+ Data Center for AI Push

Meta Platforms Inc. CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company plans to invest between $60 billion and $65 billion in capital expenditures in 2025, significantly higher than the previous estimate of $51.31 billion. This increase is driven by a substantial push into artificial intelligence (AI) and infrastructure development. "This will be a defining year for AI," Zuckerberg said in a Facebook post. Meta intends to grow its AI teams significantly and is building a massive 2GW+ data center that would cover a significant part of Manhattan. The company plans to bring online approximately 1GW of compute power in 2025 and expects to end the year with more than 1.3 million GPUs. The enhanced capital expenditure is a notable increase from the estimated $38-40 billion in 2024, highlighting Meta's commitment to advancing its AI capabilities. Zuckerberg also stated that Meta AI will become the leading assistant serving more than 1 billion people, and Llama 4 will become the leading state-of-the-art model.
