Lionel Messi has been named the 2024 Major League Soccer (MLS) MVP, earning the Landon Donovan MLS MVP award for his exceptional performance with Inter Miami CF. Messi, who joined Inter Miami in 2023, led the league with 36 goal contributions, scoring 20 goals and providing 16 assists in just 19 matches, despite missing 15 games. His MVP title marks the first time an Inter Miami player has received this honor. Messi received 38.4% of the vote, with Cucho Hernandez coming in second with 33.7%. The announcement was made during a surprise ceremony where 250 Inter Miami academy kids spelled out 'MVP' on the field.
