Shane Bieber Re-Signs with Guardians on $14M Deal After Tommy John Surgery

The Cleveland Guardians have re-signed right-handed pitcher Shane Bieber to a contract worth up to $26 million over two years, according to multiple reports. The deal guarantees him $14 million, including a $10 million salary for 2025 and a $16 million player option for 2026 with a $4 million buyout. If Bieber exercises the player option, the total value of the contract would be $26 million. The former Cy Young Award winner underwent Tommy John surgery in April 2024 and is expected to return to play in the middle of the 2025 season. Despite receiving larger offers from other teams, Bieber chose to remain with the Guardians, where he has spent his entire career. Assuming he opts out of the player option, he could become a free agent at age 30. The contract was negotiated by Rosenhaus Sports.
