ICE Arrests 538 Criminal Illegal Immigrants, Including Gang Members, Nationwide
Jan 24, 2025, 01:29 AM
In the initial days of President Donald Trump's administration, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested over 538 illegal immigrants with criminal records in a nationwide crackdown, with 373 detainers lodged. Border Czar Tom Homan stated that over 1,300 individuals have been arrested so far, with more than 1,000 being criminals. The operation targeted undocumented immigrants with convictions for crimes such as sexual assault, robbery, burglary, aggravated assault, drug and weapons offenses, domestic violence, and resisting arrest. Raids were conducted across multiple states, including Illinois, Utah, California, Minnesota, New York, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, and Massachusetts, including operations in sanctuary cities. In Boston, ICE agents arrested eight individuals, including members of the MS-13 gang, child sex offenders, suspected terrorists, and suspects wanted for murder and rape. The Trump administration has authorized immigration enforcement at schools and churches, reversing previous policies that limited such actions. Additionally, the first deportations under the new administration have begun, with migrants arriving in Tijuana, Mexico.
