This significant expenditure underscores the company's commitment to expanding its AI infrastructure. The announcement comes amidst a broader trend where hyperscalers are estimated to have spent $222 billion on AI chips and data center infrastructure in the previous year. Microsoft's total capital expenditure estimate for calendar year 2025 is about $87.5 billion.
