The Thanksgiving weekend of 2024 has set a new record for the highest grossing box office ever, with Disney's 'Moana 2' leading the charge. The animated sequel earned an unprecedented $221 million over its five-day domestic opening, surpassing the previous record held by 'Frozen II'. 'Moana 2' also achieved the largest global debut for an animated film with $386.3 million, outperforming 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie'. Alongside 'Moana 2', 'Wicked' and 'Gladiator II' contributed significantly to the record-breaking weekend, with 'Wicked' earning $117 million and 'Gladiator II' adding $44 million to the domestic tally. The trio of films attracted over 30 million moviegoers in the U.S., making this the biggest Thanksgiving box office in history.
