Jan 24, 2025, 05:54 PM
Google DeepMind's CEO, Demis Hassabis, has announced that the company's AI-designed drugs, developed using the AlphaFold AI technology, are expected to enter clinical trials by the end of the year. These drugs target major therapeutic areas including cancer, heart disease, and neurodegenerative diseases. Hassabis, a Nobel Prize winner and leader of Isomorphic Labs, a Google DeepMind spinoff, stated that the AI technology aims to reduce the drug discovery process from a decade to weeks or months. The announcement was made during a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Isomorphic Labs has already established strategic research collaborations with pharmaceutical giants Eli Lilly and Novartis to further this initiative.
