Trump Administration Directs ICE to Increase Daily Arrests to 1,200-1,500, Reports 956 Arrests
Jan 27, 2025, 01:41 AM
The Trump administration has directed U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to significantly increase its daily arrest quotas, aiming to boost the number of arrests from a few hundred to between 1,200 and 1,500 per day. Each ICE field office is required to average 75 arrests per day, with officials facing accountability measures if they fail to meet these quotas. On Sunday, ICE reported 956 arrests and lodged 554 detainers, marking a sharp increase from the 286 arrests made the previous day and surpassing the daily average of 310 arrests from the previous fiscal year. The operations involved multiple federal agencies and targeted cities across the U.S., including Chicago, where enhanced targeted operations were conducted. The focus of these operations is on removing potentially dangerous criminal aliens to enhance public safety and national security.
