Google's DeepMind, Led by Tim Brooks, Forms Team to Develop AI for World Simulation, Aiming for AGI
Jan 9, 2025, 09:58 AM
Google's AI research lab, DeepMind, is forming a new team dedicated to developing AI models capable of simulating the physical world. The team will be led by Tim Brooks, a former co-lead on OpenAI's Sora video generation model, who joined DeepMind in October. This initiative aims to create massive generative models that can simulate real-world environments, building on the work of Google's existing AI models such as Gemini, Veo, and Genie. The new team's focus will be on tackling critical new problems and scaling these models to the highest levels of computing power, with the ultimate goal of advancing towards artificial general intelligence (AGI).
