Uruguay's former President José Mujica, 89, has announced that his esophageal cancer has spread to his liver and that he will not undergo further treatment because his body cannot withstand it. Mujica stated, "Me estoy muriendo," and expressed his desire to spend his remaining time in peace. He has requested not to be asked for more interviews, saying, "The warrior has the right to his rest." His personal physician, Raquel Pannone, confirmed the progression of his illness.
