Trump Repeals 78 Biden Orders, Mandates End to DEI Programs and Two-Gender Policy

President Donald Trump, on his first day in office, signed multiple executive orders aimed at dismantling diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within the federal government and reversing policies related to gender identity. One order mandates that the U.S. government recognize only two immutable sexes, male and female, based on biological classification at birth. This policy shift is intended to end what Trump described as efforts to 'socially engineer race and gender into every aspect of public and private life.' The orders also terminate all federal DEI programs, including those related to environmental justice, and require federal hiring to be based solely on merit, without regard to race, sex, or other identity factors. Trump's actions fulfill campaign promises to roll back policies implemented by the Biden administration, which had prioritized diversity measures across the federal government. He repealed 78 executive orders signed by Joe Biden, and the new orders mandate the termination of DEI positions within 60 days. The federal government, employing 3 million workers, will see significant changes as a result of these directives.
