Tesla Unveils Model Y Juniper in China: Enhanced Features, 719 km Range, 5.4% Price Hike
Jan 10, 2025, 01:37 AM
Tesla Inc. has launched a revamped version of its Model Y electric SUV in China, marking the first major update since its initial release in 2020. The new Model Y, codenamed 'Juniper,' features a redesigned exterior with full-width LED light bars at both the front and rear, drawing inspiration from the Cybertruck. The interior has been upgraded with new color options, heated or ventilated seats, and a touchscreen for second-row passengers. The long-range all-wheel-drive variant now offers an increased driving range of 719 kilometers per charge, up from 688 kilometers. Priced starting at 263,500 yuan ($35,900), the new Model Y is 5.4% more expensive than its predecessor in China. Deliveries are expected to begin in March, pending regulatory approval. Tesla aims to regain market share in China, where it has faced increased competition from local rivals like Xiaomi and BYD.
