Man Pushed Onto Tracks in Random Attack at 18th Street Station; Suspect Apprehended

A 45-year-old man is in critical condition after being pushed onto the subway tracks and struck by an oncoming train at the 18th Street station in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood around 1:40 p.m. on Tuesday. The attack appeared to be random. Witnesses shouted "he's alive!" as firefighters rescued the victim from under the train. The victim was transported to Bellevue Hospital. The suspect, described as wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt, a black jacket, grey pants, and a mask, initially fled the scene but was later apprehended and is in custody for questioning.
