Attacker Used Meta Glasses in New Orleans Attack That Killed 14, FBI Says
Jan 5, 2025, 06:29 PM
The FBI revealed that the man responsible for the New Year's Day truck attack in New Orleans, which killed 14 people, had visited the city twice before and recorded videos of the French Quarter using Meta smart glasses disguised as regular eyewear. The attacker, identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, used the glasses to film Bourbon Street by bike as he planned his assault. He placed coolers containing improvised explosive devices throughout the area and wore the same glasses during the attack, although he did not activate the livestream feature. The FBI released footage showing Jabbar surveying the area and placing the IEDs.
