Musk expressed his support for the AfD, stating that they are "the best hope for Germany" and urging Germans to vote for the party in the upcoming election. He remarked, "It is okay to be proud to be German," and added, "Children should not bear guilt for their parents' crimes." German Chancellor Olaf Scholz criticized Musk, saying, "Elon Musk is using his power on social media to 'intervene everywhere in the world,'" and warned that such actions endanger European unity and coexistence. The AfD's event in Halle, featuring their Chancellor candidate Alice Weidel, attracted thousands of members and supporters and was met with significant protests across Germany. In Cologne, at least 15,000 people participated in demonstrations against the far-right, according to police estimates.
