The China-Russia east-route natural gas pipeline, a critical component of China's four strategic oil and gas corridors, achieved full connectivity on Monday, December 2, 2024, as reported by CCTV. This pipeline, which spans 5,111 kilometers from Heihe in Heilongjiang Province to the Baihe terminal in Shanghai, can now supply 38 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually. According to PipeChina, this development ensures a reliable gas supply to over 450 million people across nine provinces and cities in China, marking a significant step in the energy partnership between Russia and China. Gazprom, the Russian gas company, has reached the maximum design level of exports to China via the Power of Siberia pipeline.
